How to import it into Anki
Anki desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux)
- Install Anki free from apps.ankiweb.net.
- Download the DoctorMCAT Bedrock .apkg file.
- Double-click the file, or in Anki choose File → Import and select it.
- “DoctorMCAT Bedrock” appears in your deck list with its subdecks.
AnkiMobile (iPhone, iPad)
- Easiest: import on a computer first, then press Sync to send it to your free AnkiWeb account.
- Open AnkiMobile, sign in with the same AnkiWeb account and sync.
- Or: download the .apkg on your phone, open it from Files and share it to Anki.
AnkiDroid (Android)
- Download the .apkg file to your phone.
- In AnkiDroid, open the menu and choose Import, then pick the file.
- Or tap the file in your Downloads and open it with AnkiDroid.
Recommended Anki settings
Open the deck's Options (the gear icon next to it) and set:
- FSRS: on
- The modern scheduler (Anki 23.10 and later). It plans each review around how well you know the card.
- Desired retention: 0.90
- You'll remember about 90% of cards when they come due: a good balance of recall and workload.
- New cards/day: 20–30
- At 25 a day you'll see every Bedrock card in about 127 days.

Is the DoctorMCAT Bedrock Anki deck really free?
Yes. The deck is a free download and you don't need a DoctorMCAT account or any paid add-on to use it. Import it into Anki like any other shared deck.
How many cards are in DoctorMCAT Bedrock?
The current version has 3,163 cards: the highest-yield cards from the DoctorMCAT library, chosen because they are tested often and are must-knows at any score.
How is it different from AnKing or MileDown?
All three are good options. DoctorMCAT Bedrock is smaller and focused on the highest-yield facts, puts an explanation on every card, tags every card to the AAMC content outline, and is maintained with a public changelog. AnKing MCAT is larger and is maintained through a paid AnkiHub subscription; MileDown is free but has not been updated since 2019.
How do I get updates?
The current version is 2026.10.28; the number is on the deck's "About this deck" card, so you can tell when this page has a newer one. Download the newest version from this page and import it over the old one. Notes are matched by ID, so Anki updates the cards you already have and keeps your review history. Every change is listed in the public changelog.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Use AnkiMobile on iPhone or iPad and AnkiDroid on Android. The simplest route is to import on a computer and sync through a free AnkiWeb account; you can also open the .apkg file directly on your phone.
What Anki settings should I use?
Turn on FSRS in the deck options, set desired retention to 0.90, and add 20–30 new cards a day. That keeps daily reviews manageable while you finish the deck in a few months.
Can I study the same cards without Anki?
Yes. The full 7,900+ card library, including every Bedrock card, is free to study in the DoctorMCAT app with FSRS scheduling built in. Missed Q-Bank questions automatically queue related flashcards. Progress in Anki and in the app are separate.
Can I move my Anki progress into the app?
Yes. Export your deck from Anki with scheduling information and open it at app.doctormcat.com/flashcards/import. Cards from Bedrock match exactly, and cards from other decks such as AnKing or MileDown match when they test the same fact, so their review history carries over.
Who made the images, and can I share the deck?
Figures are either made in-house or used under open licences (Public Domain, CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA). Each card shows its image credit and every file is listed on our image credits page. The deck is free for personal study.
